Buying Crypto with Google Pay or Apple Pay? Here's How to Find Your Virtual Card's Last 4 Digits!
Buying cryptocurrencies with Google Pay or Apple Pay on Bitnovo is fast, convenient, and secure. However, sometimes, as an additional security measure and to protect against potential fraud, we'll ask you to confirm the last 4 digits of the card you used. This is where a common confusion arises: those numbers might not match your physical card's!
Why Does Bitnovo Ask for These Different Numbers? (Our Security, Your Protection)
When you use Google Pay or Apple Pay, your actual bank card information isn't directly shared with the merchant (in this case, Bitnovo). Instead, these digital payment services generate a unique, encrypted virtual card number for each transaction or for each device/merchant. This process is called tokenization.
This virtual number is a very powerful security measure:
- Protects Your Real Card: If a merchant's systems were compromised, your physical card number would never be exposed.
- Fraud Prevention: By asking for the last 4 digits of this specific virtual transaction number, Bitnovo can verify that you are the legitimate cardholder who authorized the payment via your device, adding an extra layer of protection against unauthorized transactions or fraud attempts.
Therefore, the 4 digits we request are from the virtual or tokenized card number that Google Pay or Apple Pay generated for your purchase, not from your physical plastic card.
How to Find the Last 4 Digits on Apple Pay (iPhone, Apple Watch)
It's very simple to locate this virtual number on your Apple device:
- Open the "Wallet" app on your iPhone or Apple Watch.
- Select the card you used to make the purchase on Bitnovo.
- Tap the three-dot icon (...) in the top right corner (or the information "i" icon on some models/iOS versions).
- Scroll down and look for the "Device Account Number" section or "Virtual Card Number." You'll see the last 4 digits of this number. Those are the ones you need to provide us!
How to Find the Last 4 Digits on Google Pay / Google Wallet (Android)
Finding the virtual number in Google Pay (now Google Wallet) is also a quick process:
- Open the "Google Wallet" app (or "Google Pay" in older versions) on your Android phone.
- Select the card you used for the purchase on Bitnovo.
- Tap the three-dot icon (...) in the top right corner or the "Card details" icon.
- Look for the section that shows the "last 4 digits of the virtual account number" or similar. This is the number Bitnovo needs!
An Additional Tip: Always Verify in the Payment App
Get used to the idea that when using Google Pay or Apple Pay, the card number being processed is the virtual one. If you are ever asked for verification, always check your Wallet or Google Pay app to get the correct digits for that specific virtual card.
This small extra step ensures that your cryptocurrency purchases on Bitnovo are even more secure and protect you and your funds. This way, your crypto experience will always be smooth and protected!
